The Points Life

Annual fees you already pay, turned into trips

A premium credit card hands you a pile of small credits, $15 here and $100 a quarter there, and quietly keeps the ones you forget. The Points Life is a tracker for the forgetting.

What it does

Nothing is connected to a bank. No account linking, no card numbers, no transactions read from anywhere. You type what you use. That means a little more effort and a great deal less to lose, and it is the whole reason the app can be honest with you about whether a card is worth keeping.

How it makes money

Barely, and only one way. A handful of cards carry a referral link, always labelled. If you use one and are approved, the owner earns a referral bonus from the issuer at no extra cost to you.

A link only ever appears when its offer matches or beats the best public offer on record for that card, so following one never means taking a worse deal. And the rankings are computed from your spending and the annual fee. No referral link is anywhere in that maths. The app will happily tell you a card you could be referred for is not worth its fee.

Who makes it

One person, as a side project, for friends and family. It is invite-only: there is no public signup, no growth target, and no investor asking for one. If it is useful to you, that is the entire point of it.

Common questions

What is The Points Life?

A tracker for the credits and perks that come with premium credit cards. It lists every credit a card carries, counts down each reset date, and shows whether the card covers its annual fee.

Does it connect to my bank?

No. There is no account linking and no way to add it. The app never sees card numbers, balances, or transactions. Every figure in it is one the cardholder typed.

What does it cost?

Nothing. It is free, and the only money involved is the referral bonus described above, which is always labelled and never changes a recommendation.

How do I get an invite?

From someone who already uses it, either as an emailed invitation or a spoken invite code redeemed at thepoints.life/join. There is no public signup yet. No member to ask? Email hello@thepoints.life and an invite will find you.

Which cards does it cover?

About forty US cards, including the American Express Platinum and Gold, the Chase Sapphire Reserve and Preferred, the Capital One Venture X, the Bilt cards, the Citi Strata Elite, and the Hilton and Marriott co-brands. Card data is refreshed monthly, and a missing card is one email away from being added.

Getting in touch

Bug reports, a card that is missing, data that looks wrong, or a request to delete your account: hello@thepoints.life. Wrong card data is the most useful thing you can report, because it affects everyone.
